Graders not advocated
Walder, G.F. (1978) Graders not advocated. The Countryman, 8 June 1978. p. 10 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
A response from G.F. Walder of Brookton to T.R. Negus's letter published in The Countryman, May 25 which may be construed as a warning to farmers contemplating the use of the Whittington interceptor system to control salt-affected land.
The use of a road grader for the construction of such banks has never been advocated by Mr. Whittington who emphatically warned against the use of any machine other than a bulldozer for the purpose.
Mr. Negus and the data obtained from the banks described at East Pingelly have little or no relevance to the Whittington interceptor system and can prove nothing that is already known.
