No restriction on Agriculture Dept officers

(1978) No restriction on Agriculture Dept officers. The Pingelly-Brookton Leader, 24 May 1978. [Publication] [Special Collections]

Article discussing the Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Old saying the department was not trying to prevent its officers from having anything to do with the salt land reclamation field days conducted by Harry Whittington of Brookton.
Mr. Old commented on rumours that the Department was discouraging its officers to take part in the field days, and being prevented from giving advice or help to farmers who wanted to start salt control projects using methods other than those advocated by the department.
Mr. Old advised members of the Farmers'Union at a meeting at Katanning, that he had seen the work done by Mr. Whittington on his property and was pleased that his work has helped create more interest in the problem.
