'Mistakes' on the farms
McMiles, R. (1979) 'Mistakes' on the farms. The West Australian, 8 May 1979. [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
Opinion article by Robin McMiles from Corrigin in response to Ian Mck. Moore (Letters, April 28) who wrote about the desecration of our State with salt encroachment.
Robin McMiles agrees that farmers have made a mistake, but in the early days of farming, farmers did not have the expertise or knowledge of conservation that we have now.
Farmers should take heed of our mistakes and watch bauxite mining carefully.
The farmers are trying to rectify their mistakes but it is difficult without the funds that the bauxite miners have and with little support from the Government except words.
