Doubt cast on salt bank plan

Gill, I. (1979) Doubt cast on salt bank plan. Western Farmer and Grazier, 28 June 1979. p. 5 [Publication] [Special Collections]

The Public Works Department released a report last week containing information gathered in the 12 months to May this year from a trial running at Batalling Creek. The report indicates that interceptor banks have little effect in the control of stream salinity. Harry Whittington, the interceptor banks proponent, responded to the report and its conclusions, saying 'it is an interesting report of foregone conclusions with a number of records of no value'. He also said that the fact that there were no testing stations inside the experimental site itself led him to be suspicious of the accuracy of the data collected.
