Plea over salinity

(1979) Plea over salinity. 17 August 1979. [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

The Opposition wants the Western Australian Government to give more support for the trial of the Whittington interceptor bank system of reducing water salinity. The system was developed by Brookton farmer, Harry Whittington and is being tested at Batalling Creek, a tributary of the Collie River. Three Opposition spokesmen, C.J. Jamieson (water supplies), H.D. Evans (agriculture) and J.E. Skidmore (conservation and environment), inspected the site and were impressed but noted that the results of the trial would probably not be conclusive because it was not a big enough scale.
