Call for greater co-ordination on soil, water conservation
(1979) Call for greater co-ordination on soil, water conservation. The Queensland Graingrower, 28 March 1979. p. 21 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
A meeting held in Toowoomba has paved the way for greater co-ordination of soil conservation and water conservation measures. Four representatives of the Condamine River Basin Irrigators Association attended a committee meeting of the Central Downs Advisory Group Committee on soil conservation, at the invitation of Councillor Ross Stirling. Several points of agreement were reached after lengthy discussions covering a wide range of topics related to soil and water conservation. In a statement issued after the meeting the Condamine River Basin Irrigators Association recognised the principle that development of water harvesting and irrigation distribution systems should occur in a manner that it would not cause a detrimental effect to other lands. The Irrigators Association and the Central Downs Advisory Group Committee are of the opinion that soil conservation and water conservation are combine and integrated matters should not be segregated.
