Letter to the editor - Managing WA's salt lands

Burnett, R. (1979) Letter to the editor - Managing WA's salt lands. The West Australian, 3 December 1979. p. 47 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

Letter to the editor by Ralph Burnett, Watheroo, Western Australia.

A response to the remarks made by the Minister for Works, Mr MacKinnon in a letter to the editor published on 17 November 1979. Mr Burnett suggests that another expert consultant report is about the last thing that farmers need or want. He also suggests that the report from the Government's imported expert, Professor Holmes has negligible value with advising that the interceptor banks do not work and that perhaps deep drains and woodland communities are the answer. The Batalling Creek trial, which proponents of the interceptor bank system have never been happy with, in terms of its layout and objectivity, makes this trial scientifically unsound.
