SA ecologist lashes farming experts
Piggott, M. (1980) SA ecologist lashes farming experts. Western Farmer and Grazier, 3 July 1980. [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
A blistering attack was launched at Albany over the weekend on the credibility of much of the fertiliser and land management advice given to farmers throughout Australia. Speaking at a two-day seminar titled "Alternatives for better living", Adelaide self-proclaimed freelance ecologist, Peter Bennett said that many farmers were under the guidance of invincibly ignorant experts. Mr Bennett stated that these so-called experts were punched out of university moulds and had closed minds to alternative solutions to the problems of agriculture.
This article contains a photograph of ABC television interviewer John Mills; with organic farming advocate Peter Bennett and Narrikup farmers Maurie Doyle, Graeme McRae, Alec Sandow discussing soil requirements at Mr McRae's farm.
