WA officers for salt land talks in India

(1980) WA officers for salt land talks in India. The Countryman, March 1980. [Publication] [Special Collections]

Western Australia could help India and Pakistan with their extensive salt land problems through visits by WA research scientists this month. Clive Malcolm and Dr Bob Nulsen will attend a four-day symposium at Karmal, Northern India on the principles and practices for reclamation and management of salt-affected soils. Both officers will deliver papers on aspects of soil salinity in Western Australia and will hear delegates from twenty participating countries including Canada, Israel and Hungary, who are experiencing salt land problems similar to those in Western Australia. Dr Nulsen is being sponsored by the Wheat Industry Research Committee of Western Australia and Mr Malcolm's participation is being sponsored by the Australian Meat Research Committee and the Australian Development Assistance Bureau.
