Perillup farmer takes on the Government over land clearing

(1980) Perillup farmer takes on the Government over land clearing. February 1980. p. 1 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

Perillup farmer Bert Henderson faces prosecution for illegal clearing on his 2,700 acre property. Attempts by the Forestry and Public Works Department to examine recently cleared land on Mr Henderson's property have met with resistance, with Mr Henderson saying that only a court can direct him to restore the land he cleared. The Country Areas Water Supply Act, which has been recently amended, states that it an offence for any person to remove, destroy or clear undergrowth, bush, trees or vegetation on land not under cultivation.
