Letter to the editor - Storm damage

Wahlsten, P. (1981) Letter to the editor - Storm damage. The Wheatbelt Mercury, 26 November 1981. p. 3 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

Letter to the editor by Peter Wahlsten, President of the Merredin Zone Council of PIA (Primary Industry Association).

Following recent storms and tremendous damage due to erosion, Mr Wahlsten suggests that there is an urgent need for contouring banks and other control measures for farmers to adopt in Merredin. The Department of Agriculture offers a free service for contour surveying and gives advice on flood control. The Merredin Zone Council urge all farmers to avail themselves of this service, with the cost being minimal and the gains in water harvesting great.
