(1981) Banks help fight farm salt battle. Western Farmer, 20 August 1981. p. 1 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Ongerup farmers Mick Jackel and his son Ernie are fighting the battle against salt encroachment on their farm. Mr Jackel intends to have 96 kilometres of interceptor banks put in by contractors, his investment of $621 per kilometre will help stop leaching and slow down run-off. The Jackel's have put in a 10,000 metre dam and enlarged other farm dams to try to alleviate their growing salt problem.
