(1981) Govt policy on new land under fire. The Countryman, 4 May 1981. [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

An editorial discussing the State Opposition's grave concerns about the Liberal Government's farm land release policies. The deputy leader of the Opposition and shadow minister for Agriculture Mr Dave Evans said the Government was planning to release large tracts of land for agriculture without having researched the effect on the salinity problem. The Institute of Agriculture had expressed concerns about the land release and had sought additional research before a decision could be made on releasing more land. Mr Evans moved in the Legislative Assembly for the establishment of a select committee into salinity matters.
