Old, R.C. (1981) Letter to the editor - Government measures on land degradation. The West Australian, 2 July 1981. p. 21 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
Letter to the editor by R.C (Dick) Old, Minister for Primary Industry.
A response to Dr Hansford-Miller's letter published 23 June 1981, sharing his concern in regards to soil and water salinity levels in Western Australia, but taking issue with comment that the Government does not appear to be doing anything about it. Mr Old says that a number of measures to deal with aspects of salinity and land degradation have been implemented, including a reforestation and clearing-control programme starting despite opposition from some quarters and the revamp of the Soil and Land Conservation Act 1945.
