Summary
The State Government review on soil salinity, erosion and other forms of soil degradation made a number of recommendations to Cabinet. The committee is comprised of the Minister for Agriculture, the Minister for Works and Water Resources, the Minister for Lands and Forests and the Minister for Conservation and the Environment. The Premier, Sir Charles Court believes there is an important role for the Commissioner of Soil Conservation with the strong backing of people drawn from the appropriate departments and the private sector to work towards solutions to fight soil erosion and salinity.
