Record floods scour Dalby plain
Cary, B. (1981) Record floods scour Dalby plain. The Queensland Graingrower, 18 February 1981. p. 56 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
The floods of 1981 in the Dalby district will be remembered as one of the greatest on record. Mapping is being undertaken to determine the extent of the flood damage and provide a useful guide in determining the soil conservation needs in the future for the district. The satellite, LANDSAT II passed over the district on the day of the flood, but cloud cover at the time partially obscured the vision of the floods. It is due to pass over again on 25 February and hopefully some evidence of the floods will still be evident if it is a clear day.
This article contains three aerial images showing sediment and scouring on fallow strips.
