Summary

Discusses the report from the Australian Soil Conservation Standing Committee, detailing the nation's dryland salinity issues which pose challenging questions for the whole community. The report suggests regarding salting as a 'manifestation of a natural hazard, to be accepted if the cost of avoiding it exceeds the benefit to do so.'
