Continuous crop needs care
(1982) Continuous crop needs care. Western Farmer and Grazier, 1 April 1982. p. 25 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
Soil Conservation Commissioner Graeme Robertson suggests that the current trend towards continuous cropping must be carefully watched. Dr Robertson states that failure to properly manage soil structure resulted in a reduction in the amount and size of water stable aggregates, this produced a soil that required more power for cultivation, was more erodible by wind and water, had a lower water holding capacity and as a consequence produced lower yields.
