Summary
Farming techniques in north-west Victoria could change dramatically if results from experiments in weed control in Western Australia can be adapted to suit local conditions. According to Tom Speedie, a regional soil conservationist with the Soil Conservation Authority, farmers in Western Australia are already making extensive use of herbicides and direct drilling as a method of sowing cereal and legume crops.
