WISALTS column

(1983) WISALTS column. Elders Weekly, 13 October 1983. p. 6 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Discusses research and results of recent scientific studies from the Amazon River in South America. While the climate is very different to Western Australia, research has shown that a tropical forest in South America can return as much as 75 per cent of the moisture it receives back to the atmosphere. The study also found that land covered by trees collects and returns moisture to the air in amounts large enough to form rain clouds.
