Runoff soil risk

(1983) Runoff soil risk. Queensland Graingrower, 28 September 1983. p. 7 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

Good rains in farming areas around Australia which have brought an ironic burden of more soil loss to many farmers recovering from the drought. Land degradation which accompanied the drought has resulted in many areas experiencing flooding, heavy runoffs and consequential erosion of precious topsoil. Australian Conservation Foundation director Dr Geoff Mosley has pointed out that good land management of small units is much better than enormous lots as they act as buffers against both wind and water erosion to adjacent unprepared land.
