WISALTS column
(1983) WISALTS column. Elders Weekly, 16 June 1983. p. 9 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
Describes the trial about to get underway south of Quairading to construct seed and super crossings that allow water to pass under the crossings and to see what depth the pipes will need to be to prevent damage to them. Also discusses that the WISALTS method of conserving water for stock use is not generally understood by many members and needs a little explanation according to WISALTS Secretary Laurie Adamson. The main consideration in siting a water supply is to make sure of the water holding capacity of the soil, as so many dams leak and have a salt scald or seep showing somewhere on the downhill side.
