3 million ask UN to save rain forests
(1989) 3 million ask UN to save rain forests. The West Australian, 21 September 1989. p. 22 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
Three million petitions were hand delivered to the United Nations building in New York. A call for a UN special session to address the destruction of rainforests worldwide from 23 countries was deemed unlikely due to the cost incurred, but the issue was added to the open session by the UN Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar.
