Prison goes 'green'

(1989) Prison goes 'green'. Elders Weekly, 14 September 1989. p. 81 [Publication] [Special Collections]

A plant nursery has been established at the Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison to produce 150,000 trees annually. The trees are mainly designated for mining sites, where the original trees were cleared to dig the mine face. The surplus trees will supply local nurseries since they will be well suited to Kalgoorlie conditions. The project will also provide ongoing jobs for inmates in the nurseries.
