Back to basics call by president

Bone, H. (1989) Back to basics call by president. Elders Weekly, 3 August 1989. p. 46 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

Newspaper article by Helen Bone.

The Isolated Children's Parents' Association (ICPA) president, Bob Baker, commented on the association's role as a lobby group dedicated to demanding better educational opportunity for geographically isolated children in Australia. The group's role is not designing or delivering educational programs, but rather to keep governements accountable to provide a quality education to all children. Mr Baker argued in cases where education cannot be delivered to a child remotely, it is the government's responsibility to allow the child to access the education elsewhere regardless of the family's finacial situation.
