WISALTS column - Practical planting
(1989) WISALTS column - Practical planting. Elders Weekly, 18 May 1989. p. 31 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
Farmers are urged to implement water control measures like the WISALTS Interceptor Bank System before conducting mass planting. While they acknowledge that planting is an important long term solution for lowering the water table, WISALTS reminds that the new plants must survive if they are to use up the groundwater; the likelihood of establishing new growth increases with proper water control already in place.
