A retrospective look at the politics surrounding conservation funding. Despite being identified as the primary threat to Australia's agricultural industry in the first nationally televised press conference, funding committed to landcare has consistently been well below the estimated cost needed for real improvement (several million dollars lacking) at every turn. Presents the arguments from politicians such as the Minister for Resources Ernie Bridge, who campaigned for community awareness over on the ground activities and the measures implemented by the Department of Agriculture to slow the degradation of soil.
