WISALTS column - Joint attack on soil problems

(1989) WISALTS column - Joint attack on soil problems. Elders Weekly, 30 March 1989. p. 43 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Outlines a joint proposal by the National Farmers Federation and the Australian Conservation Foundation to regulate conservation activities in Australia. One objective of the proposal is to provide incentives towards landcare efforts, such as tax deduction on soil care machinery.

WISALTS acknowledges a system of regulation through State Agriculture Departments threatens small group like themselves who use innovative methods, but conclude that showcasing the efficiency of landcare methods is a reasonable step to being approved for incentives. They promote the upcoming Elders Weekly Land Manager Competition as one way to share effective conservation strategies.
