WISALTS column - Seminar airs tree problem

(1989) WISALTS column - Seminar airs tree problem. Elders Weekly, 23 February 1989. p. 60 [Publication] [Special Collections]

An overview of the "Insects and Rural Tree Decline" seminar held at Mount Barker during February 1989. The impact of insects and their relationships in the ecology of rural Western Australia were discussed at the seminar tackling dieback of trees in dry areas. The high mortality rate for planted trees, due in large part to insect activity, is stated to have knocked farmers' confidence in tree planting as a conservation strategy.
