WISALTS column - Call to spend funds on rehabilitation

(1990) WISALTS column - Call to spend funds on rehabilitation. Elders Weekly, 18 January 1990. p. 35 [Publication] [Special Collections]

Summary

WISALTS column outlining some submissions to the Land Conservation Select Committee of the Legislative Assembly. WISALTS advocate for the government to invest money in conservation and repairing the land already under attack instead of purchasing more land with a view to preventing degradation.

WISALTS argued supporting farmers by funding their conservation efforts, the increase in production enabling the loan to be paid back. WISALTS contend the Western Australian Agriculture Department should be the central authority coordinating soil rehabilitation efforts.
