WISALTS column - Call to spend funds on rehabilitation
(1990) WISALTS column - Call to spend funds on rehabilitation. Elders Weekly, 18 January 1990. p. 35 [Publication] [Special Collections]
Summary
Outlines some submissions to the Land Conservation Select Committee of the Legislative Assembly. WISALTS advocate for the government to invest money in conservation and repairing the land already under attack instead of purchasing more land with a view to preventing degradation.
WISALTS argued for supporting farmers by funding their conservation efforts, therefore increasing production and enabling loans to be paid back. They also contend the Department of Agriculture should be the central authority coordinating soil rehabilitation efforts.
