Letter to the editor by Harry Whittington.

Giving a brief history of the building soil degradation crisis since the 1920's. Mr Whittington cites uninformed action as a key challenge to repairing the land and argues more attention should be directed to individual landcare successes rather than mass conservation activities with, at best, temporary improvements.
