Federal Conservation Minister Wilson Tuckey reports on the state of government support for conservation strategies. Mr Tuckey criticises the Western Australian State government for opting into mass tree planting to lower the water table and refusing to commit to further research into the effectiveness of drainage to reduce salinity.

This article contains an annotated map of a proposed canal to drain salt water from the Blackwood River catchment out to the ocean. The map was prepared by Agri-Tech Soil Conservation.
