Interview with Hywel Francis by John Clements, recorded at Brynly Griffiths House, South Wales.

Hywel Francis, librarian of the South Wales Miners' Library, talks about the inception of the library and its relationship to the South Wales Miners' Federation. He reflects on the history of the South Wales Miners' Federation, including the focus on education of the miners and political ideals. He discusses Miners' Institutes, various members, Welsh miners’ involvement in the Spanish Civil War and also the relationship between South Wales mining and the poet Bryn Griffiths.
