Interview with Howard Smith by John Clements, recorded in Perth, Western Australia.

Howard Smith talks about theatre in Western Australia in the 20th century, that began in the 1930's as an offshoot of the Communist Party and mainly performed political plays with an anti-war, anti-fascist leanings. He talks about different personalities in Western Australian theatre and speaks more broadly about the Workers Art Guild, establishment of the National Theatre, the Patch Theatre and reflects on his experiences in the Repertory Club and His Majesty's Theatre.
