Interview with Ken Livingstone
Interview with Ken Livingstone. [Sound recording] [Special Collections]
Summary
Interview with Ken Livingstone by John Clements, recorded in London, England.
Ken Livingstone speaks about early influences that shaped his interest in politics prior to his election as Lord Mayor of London in 2000.
Ken joined the Labor Party in 1968 with the aim of changing it from within and was elected to Chairman of the Greater London Council in 1981 until 1986 when Margaret Thatcher abolished the Council. He predicted that the Labor Party would be transformed into a genuinely radical socialist party.
