Summary
Surveyor's Report on WISALTS Soil Conservation System created by R (Rod) Sawyer.
Plantagenet Location 5029.
Comments: Mort, yate country on flats with some white gums in high country. Drain A, B and C had to be surveyed in as there was no visible depression for a waterway. Water was getting onto these areas and getting locked in by small ridges. Most of the flat areas were bordering on crab holes. All man made drains had an average fall of 3 to 4 centimetres. This would be some of the flattest land I have seen, thus no real defined watercourse. Lines not bored as we were on mort clay most of the time and tractor ripper was bringing up clay all the time.
The main effect of this job was to protect the main low lying areas. Future level banks from main water shed areas. No visible salt on any area, but soil sample levels were very high. Most of the country worked on had been recently ploughed which made it a bit difficult to pick any real bad areas. All dams are fresh.
