Surveyors Report on WISALTS Conservation System created by JD (Jim) McGregor.

Comments: Working within the boundaries of known farmer cooperation, all the proposed work would depend on a comprehensive survey of throughflows. Considerable evidence of collapsing areas in east block would require a mix of grade sections with level work on that area depending on exact location of lines. The overflow of the level system would probably be best away from roadside but could be handled by pipes, strip drain or a well constructed drain. Little real evidence of erosion would suggest there should be no major problems. A major dam should be incorporated into the system involving the overflow. If access is available to the land south of the salt bush nearer the hill then a bank should connect from the more southerly road culvert below the rubbish tip eventually going south of the salt bush into the main creek on the west of the map. In the west site a grade bank on the south boundary sealing all the throughflows would continue in a line to the north of the patch of salt bush and probably to the south on the main line from point A to B, 3 to 5 centimetres per 30 metre fall should be used. It should only be necessary to cut the throughflows on the south boundary once ($$$$). The main grade line from east to west should cut all throughflows and be at least 1 metre deep with wide flat bottom. Another one bank should be installed below the main grade line, again with reasonable fall 4 to 8 centimetres per 30 metres. On the west side of the creek, the middle line should cut all throughflows right into creek, the higher one should incorporate the dam and be level.
