Summary
Surveyor's Report on WISALTS Soil Conservation System created by JE (James) Gardner.
Comments: Red → banks already existing. Point A is middle of sand seam 80 to 90 centimetres lower than point B. Seam has been sealed but fills with water (salt) and cannot get out. Point A is well down into clay. To allow water to escape we feel it would be cheaper to dig existing bank out deeper and use clay as back fill to lift bottom off sand seam, than to break through and push up more sand and clay along — — — — line into bottom bank or dam. Green ____ this line shows as a very dark shadow on aerial photo. Black ____ this line is visibly waterlogged and very wet. 16 inches rainfall. White gum, jam and sheoak soil types. Topsoil is from 12 to 18 inches over clay except where indicated on map. Level banks are 2.5 to 3.5 metres apart. No banks have been surveyed into the trees as I feel that at this point with all the water held up on the slopes the trees may be able to handle the rainfall. If needed banks could be put in later on.
