Krützen, M. and Allen, S.J. (2008) Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin. In: van Dyck, S. and Strahan, Ronald, (eds.) The mammals of Australia. New Holland Publishers, Sydney, pp. 837-838.

Research conducted at several sites around Australia has revealed that their social organisation is even more complex than that of chimpanzees and other primates, and they are the only cetacean species known to use tools.
