Science in connection with Husserl’s and Patočka’s notions of the Lebenswelt

Učník, L. (2010) Science in connection with Husserl’s and Patočka’s notions of the Lebenswelt. In: 4th International Conference of Phenomenology for East Asian Circle, 12 December 2010, National Sun Yatsen University, Taiwan

Abstract

In this paper, I propose to take up the theme of ‘Border -Crossing’, to reflect on the world we live in, as opposed to the ‘scientific’ description of the world which we take to be the ‘correct’ knowledge about it. Hence, I will criss-cross between Jan Patočka’s and Edmund Husserl’s thinking about the life-world and scientists’ picture of the physical universe (to use the title of Max Planck’s essay).
