The assessment of cathodic protection of oil well casings
Strong, G.E., May, P.M. and Pang, J.T.T. (1990) The assessment of cathodic protection of oil well casings. In: 30th Australasian Corrosion Association Conference, 19 - 23 November, Auckland, New Zealand
Abstract
Difficulties normally associated with the use of attenuation equations to predict downhole potential profiles of oil wells under cathodic protection are addressed. Using a novel approach, field data is analysed to obtain accurate simulated potential profiles of wells under different CP conditions. These profiles, in conjunction with a suitable protection criterion, can be used to establish optimum protection levels of wells.
