Abstract
This article discusses the process of developing educational-ly effective interactive learning environments in the context of a case study of a staff development program about out-comes- based course design. Aspects of educational design, software design (including feasibility studies), project management (including team issues and quality assurance), and formative evaluation are discussed, together with their inter-relationships. The article concludes with a set of general principles which may assist in the production and project management of interactive learning environments in other contexts.
