Abstract

Impacts of human activities on cetaceans include those that are immediate and readily detectable (e.g., whaling, drive fisheries, ship strikes, by-catch) and those that are cumulative and not readily detectable (e.g., nature-based tourism, shipping, acoustic pollution, and oil and gas exploration). Lars’ talk focused on the not readily detectable effects of nature-based tourism, with the emphasis that the industry needed management.
