It was at least two centuries before Christians began to erect buildings called churches and meet in them. Before that people met in houses, house churches. Today, when in many parts of the world Christians are beginning to rediscover the value of small Christian communities, it is salutary to look again at the corporate forms of Christianity at its earliest stages...
