Throughout applications of Industrial computers and microcontrollers, there has always been a need to innovate and create newer data analysing tools to help reducing cost and implementation time to promote more sustainable data acquisition systems. Many commercial SCADA systems are available to users to purchase, from as complex as Labview to the very basic Excel sheet and data base, cost is one determining factors for selection of a SCADA system.
During this internship, a new design for data acquisition systems with the ability for both dynamic and storage (section 7) of data has been investigated focusing on cost effective and efficiency. With the use of microcontrollers (section 9) and third party data analysis tool kits (sections 7 & 6.4), anyone with the general knowledge of programming should find these results and figures a good foundation for any DIY SCADA related applications.
This design is developed specifically for extrusion process in particular monitoring and logging data regarding the flow rate of the system. While the systems produces polyethylene pipes so that this information can be linked in with process times to promote line production rates and also trend data back to irregular values if any.
