Abstract
At the conclusion of this book, it becomes clear that the case for understanding and researching motivation in learning contexts is strong. Overall, and despite different theoretical underpinnings, units of analysis and research foci, a number of common trends emerge across the fourteen chapters. Six conceptual shifts in the way research seems to be evolving, and eight methodological implications are discussed in turn, with reference to material from different chapters. Given the richness of the contributors, referencing is obviously limited and illustrative.
