Abstract

Plants nongeniculate and epigenous or unattached, varying in form from applanate, crustose thalli to fruticose thalli composed entirely of protuberances; anchored to the substrate by cell adhesion, or growing unattached and forming spherical to irregularly shaped thalli; haustoria unknown.
