Murdoch Law School: The search for excellence: Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Murdoch Law School
Murdoch Law School is celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2010, Hence, this is a time for celebration! During the last two decades, there have been many milestones in the rich history of the Law School, most of which are discussed in this commemorative book, These include the establishment of The Southern Communities Advocacy Legal and Education Service (SCALES), the development of the Murdoch Law School as Australia’s Global Law School, the creation of an excellent advocacy and mooting programme and the Moot Court Bench (MCB).
The School decided that the 20th Anniversary should be marked with the publication of this book, which highlights the achievements of the School since its beginning in 1990. We are delighted that we have been privileged to edit this volume, which will give our Alumni, staff and readers many hours of reading and viewing pleasure.
There are many people who have assisted in the production of this book. We would like to mention the general staff of the Law School, Ms Miriam Everall. Ms Lyn Tooley and Ms Carla Michan-Ranieri. The School’s web designer, Dr Ong Sing Goh collected many photos which appear in this book. The University’s photographer, Mr Brian Richards generously provided access to his rich database of Law School pictures. Georgia O’Neill served as the Copy Editor: she saved us from many mistakes and ensured consistency of language throughout the manuscript. A special mention must be made of Murdoch’s Senior Graphic Designer, Mr Adam White and Ms Nany Kusumo who were responsible for designing the book. Finally, we would like to thank all those who have contributed to the production of this book or have encouraged us to complete this project in a timely manner, We also thank Diane Evans and Edith Moens, our spouses, who have lived with this project, as much as us, during the best part of 2010.
We dedicate this book to all the people who have made Murdoch Law School into Australia’s Global Law School. Professor Philip Evans Professor Gabriel Moens Perth, 1 November 2010.
