The effect of emotions on the spectra of the singing voice
Troup, G. and Djordjevic, S. (1995) The effect of emotions on the spectra of the singing voice. In: 2nd International Conference on Acoustics and Musical Research, 19 - 21 May, Ferrara, Italy pp. 403-408.

This allows a simple quantification of the effect of emotion, which is different for males and females. This is illustrated by comparing an alto and tenor.
