Abstract
Design-based research (DBR) (also known as educational design research and design experiments) is a promising approach to finding solutions to significant educational problems. This paper describes the background to the approach and a model, and explores its implementation in educational settings particularly as used in educational technology research. It discusses how DBR can be used in practitioner research by educators in their own educational contexts, and highlights the importance of iterative cycles of evaluation in the conduct of the research.
